Competitive Strokes
Our Intermediate and Advanced swim classes focus on learning the 4 main competitive strokes, as well as other skills that help swimmers become more efficient in the water. Swimmers will develop strong technique for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly and will continue to build their swim endurance and speed. Additionally, these levels will cover flip turns, racing dives, the Individual Medley, and competitive starts and finishes.
Class Length: 30 minutes Pool Area: Lane (up to 12ft depth) Class Structure: Circle swimming
Prerequisites:
- Swim 40 feet independently with windmill arms and technical rollover breath
- Swim 40 feet of Elementary Backstroke
Skills covered:
- Freestyle with unilateral breathing
- Elementary Backstroke
- Streamline kicking on the back
- Intro to Flip Turns
- Diving & treading
Final Goal:
- 80 feet of Freestyle with unilateral breathing
- 80 feet of Elementary Backstroke

- 80 feet Backstroke
